According to the Mayor of Dubrovnik the city will have a fully functional cable car in six months time. The plan is to reopen the cable car on the 1st of June 2010, which was destroyed in the Homeland War. At the assembly of the Dubrovnik Tourist Board held today the mayor reiterated that the cable car would open for visitors as planned in six months time. In addition to the cable car Dubrovnik will also receive many other important public facilities for 2010 which will enrich the city’s tourist amenities. By Easter work will be completed on the airport in Čilipi as well as the first multimedia museum in the Revelin fortress with a total of 15 wide screens. The Mayor urged hoteliers and other travel professionals to develop programs that will attract more tourists to Dubrovnik and he added that the City of Dubrovnik and the Dubrovnik Tourist Board would help support and finance these ideas. Although the tourist season in 2010 will be very difficult and uncertain the Tourist Board plans to increase tourist traffic by 5 percent.
