If you hadn’t already realised Dubrovnik is in the middle of a heat wave. Today temperatures have already hit 40 degrees in the shade and are still rising. But Dubrovnik is not alone the whole of the country is melting under soaring temperatures. Slavonia, Zagreb and Istria have all seen temperatures reach 40 degrees Celsius.
In Dubrovnik a gentle south-westerly wind has caused the temperature to rise even further and the advice is to stay out of the midday sun and to drink plenty of fluids. If you were looking for respite in the Adriatic Sea then you won’t have much luck. The current sea temperature is 27 degrees which is warmer than the air temperature in most parts of Europe. The UV index for today is extremely high and it looks like the heat wave will continue for a few days more.
