Dubrovnik the champion of Croatian tourism

At the eleventh Days of Croatian Tourism event Dubrovnik picked up seventeen awards. At the gala event, the Croatian tourism Oscars, held this year in Zadar the main award of the night, the best destination in Croatia for 2013, was awarded to Dubrovnik.A grand total of seventeen tourism companies and individuals from Dubrovnik picked up awards, making Dubrovnik the absolute winner on the night. “We are a beautiful country in the centre of Europe with rich civilization, culture, preserved space and resources and it is certain that we do a lot in the tourism industry, but we can do twice as good as what we do today. Tourism is the only industry where we can compete with the best in the world, and improve from year to year,” said the Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanović.Dubrovnik was awarded as the best tourist destination among the Adriatic cities, whilst in the category of small destinations on the Adriatic coast Cavtat won the top prize. The Hotel Excelsior was selected as the Hotel of the Year in Croatia and the award was received by the director of the hotel Jasna Đurkovic.In total 98 destinations, 91 hotels, 50 campsites, 50 marinas and over 900 beaches were in competition for the awards.The Mayor of Dubrovnik, Andro Vlahušić, announced that a party would be held in Dubrovnik on the 9th of November to celebrate the champion title for the city.
