Angela Merkel to meet Croatian president in Dubrovnik

German Chancellor Angela Merkel will attend the annual meeting of the heads of state of South East Europe in Dubrovnik. The congress will be held in the Rector's Palace in Dubrovnik on the 15th of July. At the meeting a conclusion will be made on the location of next year’s summit involving of the main leaders of the EU and the heads of state of south east Europe. According to unofficial reports Dubrovnik is being considered as a location for this important summit and Germany, with Chancellor Merkel, are thought to be backing the proposal.Together with the Croatian President, Ivo Josipovic, Chancellor Merkel will hold a press conference after the meeting in Dubrovnik. However this will be a flying visit as it is expected that the most powerful woman in German politics will only spend six hours in total in Dubrovnik.The topics of the Dubrovnik meeting, which will last for three hours, will include the political situation in South East Europe, the problems of further enlargement of the EU, infrastructure projects such as the completion of the Adriatic-Ionian motorway, the railway from Munich to Istanbul and energy.Along with Chancellor Merkel and President Josipovic will be the presidents of all the countries in the region, including Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. On the 14th of July, the day before the meeting, all these presidents will participate in a business summit of the top 100 business leaders of south east Europe entitled “Deal for a new era.” This business congress will be held in Cavtat.
