Students of the RIT University in Dubrovnik were surprised to find a traditional product from the region on a supermarket shelf in Denver, Colorado! They were even more surprised to find the city of Dubrovnik on the front label. Ajvar is a popular chutney product in countries of the former Yugoslavia and originally comes from Bosnia and Herzegovina. However popular in Dubrovnik Ajvar isn’t made in the city and the use of the city as an advertising symbol is a little surprising.Ajvar is a type of relish, made principally from red bell peppers, with garlic. It may also contain eggplant and chilli peppers. Presumably the product is popular with ex-pats from the region who now live in the Denver region.
