Dubrovnik is leader for luxury

Dubrovnik is the leader in Croatia with 14 five-star hotels, whilst Split has the most four-star hotels in the country. On the luxury end of the tourism business in Croatia Dubrovnik is the clear leader with 14 five-star hotels: Ariston, Bellevue, Dubrovnik Palace, Excelsior, Grand Villa Argentina, Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik, Kazbek, More, Rixos Libertas Dubrovnik, The Pucic Palace, Villa Dubrovnik, President as well as the Admiral in Slano and the Radisson Blu Ressort & Spa Sun Garden Dubrovnik in Orasac.Dubrovnik was followed by Opatija which has 3 five-star hotels, and Zagreb and Split which also have 3 five-star hotels.Croatia has a grand total of 605 hotels making up 102,430 beds, with almost a half (301) of this number hotels with three stars. However the trend towards a higher end of accommodation is slowly changing the accommodation picture. By far the largest growth in accommodation in the country has been with private accommodation with an increase of 46 percent in 2014 compared to last year. Hotel accommodation has increased by 19 percent and campsite accommodation by 12 percent.
