Roman Abramovich arrives in Dubrovnik on Eclipse

One of the richest men in the world has arrived for his traditional summer holiday in Dubrovnik. Roman Abramovich, owner of Chelsea FC, arrived in Dubrovnik yesterday on his luxury mega yacht Eclipse. The second largest yacht in the world, after Azzam owned by Khalifa Al Nahyan, the president of the United Arab Emirates, is 162 metres long and cost the billionaire a whooping €340 million in 2009. The Russian billionaire has been coming to Dubrovnik on an annual basis for the past few years; he first arrived with his former wife Irina Malandina, and this year he chose Eclipse from his fleet of luxury yachts.It is believed that Abramovich (47) is on holiday in Dubrovnik with his girlfriend Dasha Zhukova (33) and the couple will be able to enjoy all the amenities that Eclipse offers. Zhukova is the former girlfriend of the tennis player Marat Safin and daughter of the London based Russian oligarch Alexander Zhukov. Onboard the luxury ship there are 70 crew members to make sure every desire of the Russian pair is met, as well as 2 swimming pools, 24 guest cabins, a disco, hot tubs and two helicopters. There is even a mini submarine that can explore the seabed of depths of up to 50 metres.If you were thinking of chartering the yacht for a week at sea, think again. Although Eclipse is officially listed as available for charter through a Monaco-based yacht brokerage company the reality is different. The yacht is simply listed so that the Russian billionaire can save a part of his fortune by not paying European taxation as charter yachts are exempt from property tax.Eclipse is currently on anchor between Cavtat and Župa near Dubrovnik.
