Dubrovnik loses all communications

Dubrovnik was left detached from the world yesterday as all of the telecommunications in the city stopped working. At around 3 o’clock in the afternoon the phone lines, internet connection and mobile phone signals all died, leaving the city in a communication black hole. Not only were locals and tourists unable to be in contact with friends and family but also many shops were unable to accept credit cards and ATM machines also ceased working.According to the telecommunication company the reason for the breakdown in operations was that two optical cables that connect Dubrovnik and Split were accidentally cut near the island of Mljet."Unbelievable and embarrassing.
