First guests arrive in new Hotel Sheraton Dubrovnik Riviera

The borough of Zupa, and Dubrovnik, has a new hotel to be proud of. The five-star Sheraton Dubrovnik Riviera will receive its first guests today as the hotel opens its doors to the public. The new hotel has 239 rooms and 11 suites as well as all of the facilities that you would expect from a luxury five-star hotel.The opening of the Sheraton Dubrovnik Riviera represents one of the largest investments into the tourism industry in Croatia this year. And with the recent opening of the fully rebuilt Hotel Mlini the owners, HUP Zagreb, have invested around 80 million Euros in these two accommodation properties.This is the first Sheraton brand name hotel in the south of Croatia, the only other being in the capital Zagreb, and is sure to attract the attention of the world’s travel agencies. As the hotel director Damir Lukić confirmed to The Dubrovnik Times “Sheraton Dubrovnik Riviera Hotel will be the second Sheraton hotel that operates under this brand in Croatia. The first was the Sheraton in Zagreb. Both the Sheratons in Croatia are the property of HUP Zagreb dd, in fact the Sheraton in Dubrovnik is owned by the subsidiary Dubrovnik Riviera Hotels Ltd. It is important to point out that Sheraton is one of the most recognizable global hotel chains in the world and currently has nearly 500 hotels in more than 70 countries.”And with one of the largest conference halls in the country and a modern Spa centre the hotel expects that it will be an attractive destination all year round. The Sheraton was built on the site of the former Hotel Orlando and construction of this modern hotel began mid-April. “It is particularly important to highlight the fact that the hotel was built taking into account the highest standards of sustainability and energy efficiency,” commented a statement from the hotel group.Anđelko Leko, the CEO of HUP Zagreb, commented that this project is in accordance with the program of the Croatian Government in terms of investment encouragement and is of great importance to the local community. The new five-star Sheraton, along with the four-star boutique hotel Mlini and the recently renovated hotel Astarea are all part of the Dubrovnik Riviera Hotels group.The Sheraton certainly has an impressive panorama from the sweeping balconies. With an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, high end Spa centre, tennis courts, restaurants, cafes, a modern congress hall and all of the facilities that you would expect from a recognised brand name hotel.Directly opposite the entrance to the new Sheraton is the construction site of yet another new building. This time a business centre, also owned by HUP Zagreb, which will include 20 luxury suites, shops, business space and an underground parking space for up to 70 cars.
