The Croatian economy grew in the second quarter of this year by 1.2 percent compared to the same period last year. The Central Bureau of Statistics has just released the assessment according to which the gross domestic product, or GDP, in the second quarter rose by 1.2 percent year on year, which is much more than all the predictions by eminent economist experts. Thus, the Central Bureau of Statistics announced that, according to seasonally adjusted data, the GDP in the second quarter compared to the previous quarter rose 0.7 percent, while compared to the second quarter last year, jumped as much as 1.4 percent. The strongest positive influence on the economic activity was the growth in household consumption by 0.6 percent. Whereas in the second half of 2014, when household expenditure was down and in the minus percentage figures, this year has seen two positive quarters. This positive increase points to that fact that consumer confidence is also rising. Whilst certainly one of the most impressive facts is that Croatian exports of goods rose by 14.1 percent in the second quarter of this year compared to the same period from last year. In fact exports were also up by 8.5 percent in the first quarter compared to the first quarter of 2014.
