British tourists number one in Dubrovnik

It is official Dubrovnik is having a record breaking tourism season. According to results just released by the Dubrovnik Tourist Board 822,000 tourists have arrived in the city so far this year.From the 1st of January to the 30th of September this year a grand total of 822,542 tourists have arrived in the city a 9 percent increase over the same period from last year. Of this number 782,785 guests were foreign tourists and 39,757 domestic guests. And Dubrovnik is on the brink of achieving 3 million overnight stays, until the end of September 2,97 million overnight stays were recorded, which is an increase of 6 percent over the same period from last year.All forms of accommodation in the city are having a great year, 499,497 tourists stayed in the 46 hotels of Dubrovnik, an increase of 3 percent over last year. In the villas, apartments and private rooms of the city 222,481 guests stayed, which is a huge 24 percent increase over 2014.The most numerous guests to Dubrovnik this year, as in the past few years, have been from the UK. With the most flights than any other country it is hardly surprising that around a fifth of all guests in Dubrovnik have arrived from Great Britain. This year has also seen Dubrovnik act as the “home port” for the Thomson Celebration cruise ship which has also added to the increase in guests from the UK. From the beginning of the year until the end of September the number of British tourists has increased by 2 percent.
